Welcome Reception and Resource Fair

Fall Gathering Event - Oct 3rd

Our annual welcoming event will be held at Woodstock’s Pizza Parlor located on Kings Blvd. across from Kinko’s at 6:30 pm on Friday the 3rd of October.  All past, current, and especially new students are welcome!  If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Kirstin Carroll at kirstin.carroll @oregonstate.edu

New Website

You might have noticed that our website recently received a facelift!  We hope that the new site is easier to navigate and more informative.  Please note that the new url is now http://psm.science.oregonstate.edu.  Let us know if you have any questions!

Oregon One of Six States Chosen by National Governor’s Association

Oregon was recently chosen to participate in an NGA Academy to explore implementation of state-wide PSM programs.  This will provide us with an exciting opportunity to develop additional programs at different institutions, including OSU, to meet state workforce needs.  Read more about this initiative in our spring newsletter!

New Summer 2008 Graduates

Four students recently completed their Master’s degrees, bringing the total number of graduates from PSM programs at OSU to 32!   

Stacy Polkowske completed her internship with the Middle Fork Willamette Watershed Council and gave her presentation, entitled “Bridging Science and Policy: A Tale of Two TMDL Implementation Plans”, on the 30th of May.

Kelly Clayton completed an internship entitled “Stream Restoration on Robinhood Creek, Mt. Hood National Forest, Oregon” by working for the Hood River Ranger District.  She gave her presentation on the 5th of June.

ATI Wah Chang employed Michael Riley for his internship entitled “Using EMERGY Analysis as a Decision Making Tool to Evaluate an Alternative Zirconium Chlorination Process”.  Mike gave his presentation on the 18th of June.

On the 23rd of July, Joshua Lambert from the Applied Systematics in Botany program gave his presentation entitled “Variation of Plant and Perspective in the Willamette Valley”.  Josh worked for the Institute of Applied Ecology to complete this project.
